What is Magic Part 4: Sexuality
“True sexuality is the passion of life giving to itself.”
In the previous three posts from the Book of Spells, the Seer Almine explains what the three rings of magic are, where magic comes from, and the pitfalls of imposing one’s will on the environment.
In this final post of the What is Magic series, the Seer briefly illustrates how sexuality is the human race’s innate source of magic; how true sexuality is also known as kundalini, the mystical serpent energy, living at the base of the spine, and what true or “evolved’ sexuality looks like in relationship.
Sexuality is Magic
Sexuality is innate to the human species; after all, it creates new life. But sexuality is more than biochemical; it's magical.
According to the Seer Almine, sexuality needs to be restored to its true purpose and expressed fully in order to function as ‘magic’.
“True sexuality is the passion of life giving to itself. Nature personifies this ceaselessly, giving in abundance, regardless of terrain or season.
During sacred sexuality, the physical body (masculine) - as the embodiment of life, merges with the soul (feminine) - which embodies death, in sacred union of the oneness of life. ( This may occur during sexual intercourse or while in meditation, or during an experience with nature, art, or other sources of intense beauty.)
Sexuality is a form of deep love (love here being the desire to include and seeing the innate value of what is present), but in order to feel and express such a state, innocence is required.
Innocence is being fully present in the moment; accepting what the moment offers without resistance, expectation, or agenda.
Moving beyond the ego-mind’s patterns, which only sees life through the lens of the past, creates access to the Unknown through the heart, soul, and instincts (which are the feminine aspects of our being).
Life initiates us into greater expressions of our gifts and abilities by seeing the unknown as fertile territory, to discover something delightful and life changing, if we surrender to each moment with trust and humility.
True Sexuality is Empowering
All beings have their magic, but humans have lost their way. The magic of humanity can be restored by remembering the potency of sexuality and by evolving their concept of the expression and purpose of sexuality.
Like the iceberg that lies mostly beneath the ocean, the true sexuality of humanity is largely unexpressed. When aspects are unexpressed, our eyes see life by what it lacks, rather than what is. The more of ourselves we express, the more we are pleasantly surprised by what we encounter on our never-ending journey of existence.
True sexuality is empowering. To love and appreciate yourself or another means you’re empowering yourself or that person. You become more aligned with what is: a being as vast as the cosmos having a human experience.”
The Source of Higher Consciousness
Sacred sexuality is known in the Vedic teachings of India as the kundalini, the basis of consciousness that lies at the base of the spine.
When the masculine and feminine passionately express as one, this vital force awakens, rising up the spine to ignite the higher functions of the pineal and pituitary glands in the brain, bringing forth higher consciousness.
Typically, most people carry blockages in their spine, formed over lifetimes. Created by painful memories that produce belief systems and programming, they are stored in the central nervous system and cells of the body.
These blockages prevent the kundalini from reaching the pineal and pituitary gland, where they convert this energy into higher consciousness, awareness, and abilities.
When balanced, grounded polarity - that evolved sexuality can bring - is not present, the hyper-electric charge of the body calls in catastrophic change rather than graceful transition.
A balanced polarity of a person (masculine = electrical, feminine = magnetic) creates a grounding rod that helps the seeds of potential in others flourish. We stimulate fullness of expression in others by living it ourselves.
Evolved Sexuality in Relationship
The gift of deeply aware sexuality is to change the linear progression of life, which results in aging or the dwindling of romance into mediocrity. Change comes like a series of starbursts that shatter the prisons of existing paradigms, rather than like a fading echo.
In mutual sexual surrender, humanity’s obsession to know can be released as two become one. The songs yet unsung within each can be awakened. The song of innocent trust in playful adventure can take the place of planned strategy.
The song of childlike wonderment at experiential discoveries of the self takes the place of the obsession to know.
